Gum Cove - South Black Bayou Property is located in T12S-R12W of Cameron Parish, Louisiana immediately north of the Sabine Wildlife Refuge and is co-owned with interests of Donner Properties, LLC and R. E. Odom.
Discovery in 1970 and afterwards aggressive development of the prolific South Black Bayou Field by Pan American Oil Company (Amoco/BP) from the Marg Howei-Camerina (9,700’-10,400’) resulted in production of in excess of 6 MMbo and 10 Bcf. There still remain 3 actively-producing wells in Section 35 (HBP - 200 acres 0-b/Camerina 11,160’ TVD).
Discovered in 2003 by Sam Gary & Associates, two wells completed from an array of sands in the Hackberry (10,640’-13,500) resulted in total cumulative production of 1.467 MMbo and 54.393 Bcf from the #21-2 Odom and #29-1 Bonne Terre prior to economic depletion in 2016.
A promising but as yet-drilled geologic anomaly comparable to the Odom-Bonne Terre tandem appears in SE/4 Section 21 and is presently leased to Oleum Operating, LP (expiration December 1, 2019) and is scheduled for drilling to 15,000‘.
This property remains an attraction for area-proven Marg Howei-Camerina development and wildcat Hackberry (10,,600-13,500’) exploration.
With its proximity to Black Bayou Dome this property may also harbor the elusive “ultra-deep” sub-salt province (30,000’ TVD); though currently the suppressed prices for natural gas and well costs in excess of $200MM are impeding trial of this speculation. The only on-shore well yet completed in this titan-class reservoir is located in St. Martin Parish at Long Bayou-Highlander Field and has produced in excess of 45 Bcf (40-50 MMcfd!) since 2015 from perf’s across 28,480 - 29,150,’ TVD. Flow-test of this well was 75MMcf from a 42/64” choke and FTP of 10,300# psi. World-record recordings were made of 440 degrees bottom-hole temperature and 24,325# psi bottom-hole pressure!
