E. W. Brown, Jr. was a legacy shareholder in the dissolutions of Lutcher-Moore Cypress Lumber Company and Dibert, Stark & Brown Cypress Lumber Company; namely:
Assumption Parish 10,027.71 acres LaFourche Parish 10,033.61 acres Terrebonne Parish 15,181.97 acres St. Martin Parish 181.04 acres.
Located near the community of Chacahoula, southwest of Thibodeaux LA in LaFourche Parish, the multi-pay Lutcher Dome Oil Field was discovered in 1949 by Sun Oil Company resulting in excess of 10.8 million barrels of oil and 113.8 billion cubic feet of gas and still has wells producing (HilCorp Energy - HBP 7,494.76 acres). There are available for oil and gas leasing some 27,929.57 acres of this portfolio.
With its proximity to the Lutcher-Chacahoula Dome, this property may harbor the elusive “ultra-deep” sub-salt province (30,000’ TVD); though currently the suppressed prices for natural gas and well costs in excess of $200MM are impeding trial of this speculation. The only on-shore well yet completed in this titan-class reservoir is located in nearby St. Martin Parish at Long Bayou-Highlander Field and has produced in excess of 45 Bcf (40-50 MMcfd!) since 2015 from perf’s across 28,480 - 29,150,’ TVD. Flow-test of this well was 75MMcf from a 42/64” choke and FTP of 10,300# psi.
In addition to annual revenue from hunting leases for alligators, nutria and deer, also located on this DS&B-Chachoula property is a state-of-the-art in-situ salt mine operated by Texas Brine, Inc.
A contract agent residing in nearby Houma. LA provides oversight and supervision of this unique property.
