Brookeland Field property consists of an undivided one-half interest in 22,528.62 acres of mineral-owned property in Jasper (4,325 acres) and Newton (18,203.62 acres) County, Texas of which 10,620.862 acres are HBP and 11,907.758 acres are open for leasing and development. The other one-half mineral interest in owned and managed by the legacy of Mr. Edgar’s brother, H. Lutcher Brown; being, Donner Properties, LLC of Shreveport, Louisiana. The surface of this property is managed by Crown Pine Timber I, LP. of Diboll, Texas.
Cretaceous/Austin Chalk gas/oil production at Brookeland Field was discovered in 1991 and under the liberally-legislated Railroad Commission special field rules, horizontally-drilled wells in expansive acreage units (as large as 1,920 acres) were commonly developed in up-dip/down-dip, K-lateral and reverse-K patterns from a single-well pad and popularly, if not almost exclusively, open-hole completed without stimulation. There have been 54 wells drilled on Brown-Donner acreage, 36 still producing, resulting in cumulative production in excess of 107 Bcf and 6.4 MMbo. Individual wells have recorded 4-5 Bcf and 200-312 Mbo, while the field average is more near 2 Bcf and 120 Mbo per well. Improved technology of horizontal drilling techniques with selected perf’s and multi-stage frac stimulation has drawn interest for revival of this resource by means of in-fill drilling development to replicate if not exceed these recorded production figures per well.
